Fashion Interviews.

1. If you could describe your style of fashion in one word what would it be and why?
"Lifestyle".
Although this term has been used quite many times I consider my creations a true lifestyle...for the modern woman who hasn't forgotten the freedom of being feminine, lovable and herself with all her beautiful shapes and state of minds at any age, at any time, in any place.
2. What were some of the obstacles did you have to overcame to get at the level you are at in the fashion industry ?
In my career as an Intimate Apparel Designer for some of the biggest names such as Calvin Klein Underwear and Victoria's Secret, I consider to be one of my biggest obstacle realizing fashion was not what I learned in school (Art, color, beauty), it was a business and a tough one. I learned from the bests and grew up fast yet I felt like a bird in a cage I needed to express the true Artist in me, to set my own trends. Now that I choose to be an independent designer I feel free to express myself, I choose to bring Art into the fashion world. Now I work harder than ever and I find every all sort of obstacles but I look at it as a never ending journey and obstacles are a part of it, I feel free and I am happy, the world appreciates my fashion creations. I have a loyal clientele from around the world that wear my latest creations of silk scarves and caftans and names such as Sofia Loren, the first Lady of the United States of America Michelle Obama, Lady Gaga, the princess of Qatar and Saudi Arabia. It's all worth it.
3. At what age did you notice you wanted to be a fashion designer and who or what inspires you to keep your craft sharp ?
I knew since at a early age I wanted to be a fashion designer. I grew up in Italy but not in the capital of fashion, Milan, I grew up in the island of SICILY, in the south of Italy where nature is uncontaminated and beautiful but fashion was not an option, not a real thing, not even a business. As a child I was designing the entire wardrobe for my dolls, including their accessories. No one believed in me except my parents and that's all that counts, it gave me the strength today to be who I am. Bless their hearts. After studying in Italy at the School of the Arts I came to the States and with much difficulties I am living the American Dream. I am grateful to this great Country.
4.There are so many different styles of fashion stoles out there, what makes your designs stand out from all the rest and why should people wear your product?
Thank you for asking me this question, it validates my "mission" in the fashion world. Nowadays designs are mostly computer generated, it's preset. I conceive what I do as a "Journey into the Arts" as such I enjoy designing all my creations by hand. I see inspiration in the nature, every day, I visualize it with my imagination and creativity and I express it through my hands and a pencil. It's that simple...but I guess it is a gift from God and I guess my clientele see the uniqueness, it's value and it's beauty. I am very grateful. My Art doesn't belong to me, it's like Love, you have to let it free to be loved in return. www.annamarialabianca.com
